Florida International University’s College of Engineering and Computing is South Florida’s leading engineering education resource. The College offers a complete range of fully accredited engineering baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degree programs in biomedical, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, and mechanical and materials engineering; construction management; and computing and information sciences. With close to $20M of external funding, research is an integral part of the College’s mission and its success. RESEARCH
Research is an integral part of the College’s success. The College provides outstanding research opportunities for graduate students and embeds significant research experience in its undergraduate curriculum. Research is supported by centers of excellence, where faculty and students work with cutting edge technology, and which are funded by major federal agencies and a large number of major corporations.
ABET
The Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredits engineering programs on a nationwide basis. Students wishing more information about accreditation should consult their respective departmental office or the Office of the Dean. The following baccalaureate engineering programs in the college are accredited by ABET, Inc., Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
OUR FACULTY
The College’s distinguished faculty is recognized by the University for excellence in teaching, research and service, and has received numerous national awards for innovative development. Faculty members provide consulting services to national and international organizations and serve as officers in leading professional societies.
LOCATIONS
The College resides at the Engineering Center (EC), a 250,000-sqft. building on 38 acres situated less than two miles from the University Park Campus, and at the Computing and Information Sciences (ECS) building located at the University Park Campus. The two facilities house world class research centers, teaching laboratories, faculty offices, study areas, computing facilities, and research laboratories. For the convenience of our students who live farther north of the city, we also offer classes at the Biscayne Bay Campus in North Miami, as well as at the Pembroke Pines Center in Broward County.
