The FIU College of Engineering and Computing actively seeks to expand its reach at the international level, and fosters collaboration with academic institutions and organizations from around the World.
 
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
The College has created a special Faculty Development program for active engineering professors seeking to obtain an advanced Ph.D. degree in one of the engineering disciplines offered by the College. The program is open to faculty from institutions of higher education in foreign countries that are members of the Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions (LACCEI).

FUTURE HOUSE USA

FIU will be the only university to represent the U.S. in China by designing and building a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient and sustainable house. It will be visited by millions during and after the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing.

EXTERNAL PROGRAMS

The College offers a number of academic programs in collaboration with accredited foreign institutions of higher learning. The host institutions generally provide the infrastructure and facilities for the delivery of the programs in their country. The goal of the global programs is to complement the existing academic programs offered by the host institution. For a list of joint programs developed to date, please click here.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT RECRUITMENT

The FIU College of Engineering and Computing welcomes international students from around the world. Nearly 50% of the College's student population comes from regions as diverse as Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

The College emphasizes partnerships with foreign institutions as a key component of its mission. It has established formal partnerships with 39 accredited universities in 16 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. These partnerships include dual-degree programs, student and faculty exchange agreements, research collaborations, and faculty development agreements.

LACCEI - Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions
LACCEI The College of Engineering and Computing at FIU is a founding member of LACCEI, a non-profit organization of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) institutions that offer academic programs in Engineering and Technology as well as institutions (i.e. universities, colleges, schools and businesses) from other parts of the world that have demonstrated interest and activities with LAC institutions.
 

The mission of LACCEI is to be the leading organization of Latin American and Caribbean engineering institutions that will bring innovations in engineering education and research, and emerge as a major force in this hemisphere to foster partnerships among academia, industry, government and private organizations for the benefit of the region.
