| Information Technology graduates command
one of the highest 'average starting salary'
among all occupational fields at the Bachelor's
level, according to the Winter 2005 survey
by the National Association of Colleges and
Employers (NACE). The Bureau of Labor Statistics
(BLS) estimates that the professional-level
IT workforce will grow at more than twice
the rate of the overall workforce between
2004 and 2014. |

| The
Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Information
Technolology provides the critical
thinking and technical skills valued by employers
in areas such as application design, programming,
networking, database management or design, and
Web development. The program offers four areas
of concentration: System Administration, Applied
Network Administration, Application Development,
and Databases. |

Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission to the program, prospective
students must have been admitted at FIU at
the undergraduate level, met all the lower
division requirements including CLAST, completed
60 semester hours, and must be otherwise acceptable
into the program. As part of the 60 semester
hours of lower division course work necessary
to enter this upper division major, prospective
students must fulfill lower level course requirements

Financial
aid and Scholarships
FIU and the College of Engineering and Computing
offer a variety of financial aid opportunities
and scholarships to qualified students. The amounts
and eligibility requirements of these awards vary
depending on the type of award. Merit-based financial
assistance is highly competitive, hence, students

Degree
Requirements
The curriculum consists of 120 credit hours.
All students must complete a minor in another
discipline (15 credits). Credits may be transferred
from an ABET accredited institution of higher
education upon approval by academic advisor.
At least 50% of the upper division credits
must be taken at FIU. In addition, all students
must meet the University Foreign Language Requirement,
must pass the CLAST or have it waived, and
must meet all of the state and university requirements
