FIU’s Wall of Wind gaining international media attention

article-0-14ADAA0E000005DC-926_964x664FIU’s 12-fan Wall of Wind (WOW), the largest and most powerful university research facility of its kind, has been receiving media attention from around the world since its official launch in August 2012. Most recently, the Wall of Wind was featured on Fox & Friends, Fox News Channel’s morning show. You can view the story here.

Television and radio news crews from around the world have recently visited the Wall of Wind to prepare special broadcasts timed for the start of the hurricane season on June 1, including:

WFLA NBC 8 Tampa

WTVJ NBC 6 Miami Hurricane Preparedness

KTRK ABC 13 Houston: Scientists find way to simulate Category 5 hurricane

BBC World Service: Insuring Against Heavy Weather (WOW begins at 9:35 mark)

Media also were on hand for the recent Wall of Wind Challenge, which drew teams of high school teams from around Dade County, including:

Lastly, the Wall of Wind was mentioned on ABC’s Good Morning America during coverage of the tornadoes in Oklahoma.
